Pakistan Increasing Nuclear Power; China, Other Nations Involved: US Report

The report states that Pakistan is constantly modernizing its nuclear weapons. What is even more important is that it is now engaged in making them usable on the battlefield. The report claims that Pakistan considers India the biggest threat to its existence, and that is why it is constantly increasing its nuclear weapons and military capabilities.

According to this US report, Pakistan is modernising its nuclear arsenal with the help of China. It is not only upgrading conventional nuclear weapons, but is also developing small 'battlefield nukes' i.e. nuclear weapons used on the battlefield. This has been described as a part of the effort to balance India's conventional military supremacy.

American exposed Pakistan

The report says that Pakistan is not only engaged in the manufacture of nuclear weapons. But its military priorities also include border clashes with India, terrorism and maintaining strategic balance. The US also says that Pakistan is obtaining equipment and technology related to 'WMD' i.e. weapons of mass destruction from foreign suppliers, especially China.

This is how China is helping Pakistan

The report also revealed that the technology and equipment that Pakistan is getting from China, do not reach Pakistan directly, but are being sent through countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. However, it also pointed towards the increasing tension between Pakistan and China. Especially due to the terrorist attacks in which Chinese citizens working in Pakistan have become targets.

Report on Make in India too

The report also makes important points about India's defense policy. It states that India is focusing on increasing defense production under Make in India, strengthening strategic partnerships in the Indian Ocean region to balance Chinese influence, and maintaining strategic relations with Russia. However, India has been less dependent on Russia in terms of purchases.

America also acknowledged India's strength

The US agency also said that India is constantly upgrading its missile systems. Recently, India has successfully tested Agni-1 Prime and Agni-V equipped with MIRV technology. Apart from this, the second nuclear-powered submarine has also been commissioned. All this indicates that India is not only modernizing its defense capabilities, but is also strategically alert to maintain regional balance.
